Great news for frequent flyers! Digi Yatra, the contactless travel experience, is set to expand to 14 additional airports in India by the end of April. This news comes from Digi Yatra Foundation CEO Suresh Khadakbhavi.
Digi Yatra uses facial recognition technology to streamline the travel process. Passengers can ditch the boarding pass hassle and move seamlessly through security checkpoints using just their face.
This expansion follows the initial rollout in December 2022, which brought Digi Yatra to 14 domestic airports. The ambitious goal is to reach a total of 38 airports by the end of 2024.
Here’s a glimpse of the airports expected to join the Digi Yatra network this month:
- Bhubaneswar
- Bagdogra
- Chennai
- Chandigarh
- Coimbatore
- Dabolim
- Indore
- Mangalore
- Raipur
- Patna
- Ranchi
- Srinagar
- Trivandrum
- Visakhapatnam
While the exact rollout dates haven’t been confirmed, Khadakbhavi assures they’ll be operational by April’s end. International travelers can also look forward to enjoying this service soon, as efforts are underway for its expansion.
Data privacy is a concern for some users. However, Khadakbhavi clarifies that Digi Yatra doesn’t store passenger data. The information remains encrypted on users’ phones, keeping control in their hands.
