Delhi, a city where history whispers in every corner, is about to gain a brand new green lung right next to the iconic Red Fort. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is spearheading the creation of a Heritage Park, a unique project that seamlessly blends the city’s rich past with modern needs.
The park’s development unfolds in phases. The first stage, already complete, focused on creating the foundation for a serene escape. Trees were carefully planted, pathways were laid, and lighting was installed, setting the stage for a tranquil atmosphere.
The second phase promises an exciting addition: a boundary wall. Standing tall at 10 feet, it will echo the architectural style of Old Delhi, adding an authentic touch to the park’s borders. But this park won’t just be a visual treat – it’s designed for fun too! Swings and slides will soon be installed, transforming the space into a delightful haven for children. Imagine learning about history while enjoying some family time on the swings – that’s the perfect blend the NDMC is aiming for.
An NDMC official highlighted the project’s dual purpose: to beautify the Red Fort’s surroundings and create a recreational space for residents. It’s about enriching the lives of Delhiites by preserving and celebrating their cultural heritage while offering them a place to relax and unwind.
The NDMC’s commitment to creating green havens extends beyond the Heritage Park. They’re also developing a Theme Park in Karol Bagh, opening in April 2024. This one promises to be a full-fledged entertainment center, complete with water slides, swings, and an amphitheater for cultural events. The aim? To provide a fun and engaging space not just for Karol Bagh residents but for everyone in Delhi.
